Step by step guidance through pain management, body ergonomics, and after the first 2 weeks, a gentle return to light exercise is essential during gynecological surgery recovery. Doing nothing during the first 6 weeks of the healing process is not an option, especially for those seeking menopause support or considering personalized physical therapy.
Once cleared by the surgeon, if you feel that things just aren't right during your gynecological surgery recovery, we are here to provide assistance, including menopause support and personalized physical therapy tailored to your needs!
Let's work together to enhance your comfort in the pelvic region, even if you haven't undergone gynecological surgery recovery. Identifying the root cause may lead to a simple solution, such as addressing deep gluteus tightness and pressure imbalance. With personalized physical therapy and menopause support, you don't have to suffer in silence!
If pain is limiting you from sitting, standing, walking, bending, or turning, let us assist you with personalized physical therapy. It's essential to address your symptoms early, especially during gynecological surgery recovery or menopause support, before they become ingrained in your body as 'the norm.'

I started A Strong ‘Pause after recently undergoing a needed hysterectomy, a significant step during my gynecological surgery recovery. Post-surgery, I was surprised by the lack of guidance from my medical team. Fortunately, with 30 years as a practicing physical therapist, I was able to manage the pain, adjust my body mechanics, and know when and how to start gently and safely exercising even before the typical 6-week recheck. I am here to help other women navigate this under-acknowledged challenge, especially those seeking menopause support. I am proud to be a Mayo PT graduate and was honored to be included in the Best of Bolingbrook 2026 for PT, along with earning my Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist Certification in 2025. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and my two dogs, Dover and Kida!
Your Questions, Answered!
Great question! Physical therapy can guide you back to gentle movement, strengthen you at the right time, and help relieve any lingering pain or unwanted symptoms. Think of it as a personalized roadmap to recovery — one step at a time!
Most importantly, we want to teach you how to move and manage changes that you are experiencing, not just give you a set of exercises to do. We want you feeling more confident with your body. You are the center of our care!
No worries! Our virtual therapy options mean you can still get the support you need from the comfort of your home.
Every body is different, but many women notice improvements in just a few sessions! The key is consistency and patience, and maybe a little laughter along the way!
No. We focus on returning the neuromuscular balance to the pelvic area including the pelvic floor (PF), glutes and lower abs along with teaching you how to manage your internal abdominal pressure. If this doesn't help your PF pain, then we can always refer you for internal PF work.
At A Strong 'Pause, we choose to be different than "big box PT clinics" who unfortunately are encouraged to see 3-4 patients at a time. Since we strive to care differently, we have chosen to be out-of-network with commercial insurance. With that said, a Superbill can be issued for your PT visit for you to submit to your private insurance company. Please let us know before your first visit if that is your plan; also call your insurance company and clarify out-of-network PT coverage so you are aware of the reimbursement process.
